Bona Prep conditions and prepares an existing wood floor finish so a new coat of finish adheres. It is intended for all polyurethane-finished hardwood floors, including aluminum oxide, ceramic and other factory prefinished floors, and it is part of an abrasion process with Bona Diamond 240-grit discs, not a replacement for abrading.
- Use: Recoat preparation on polyurethane-finished and factory prefinished wood floors
- Coverage: About 2,000 sq ft per gallon as a spray-buff solution
- Method: Clean with Bona Prep (PowerScrubber or spray-buff with a Bona Conditioning Pad), let dry, abrade with Bona Diamond 240-grit, clean off dust
- Recoat window: Apply finish within 2 hours after the floor is fully dry
- Finish systems: Bona waterborne or oil-modified; Bona Traffic HD family for factory prefinished floors
- Sizes: 32 oz spray, 1 gallon, 5 gallon

What is Bona Prep used for?

Do I still need to abrade the floor when using Bona Prep?
Yes. With Bona Prep, the floor is cleaned with Prep, allowed to dry, then abraded with a Bona Diamond 240-grit disc and cleaned of dust before finishing.
How soon do I apply finish after Bona Prep?
Bona says to let the floor dry completely after the final cleaning, then apply a Bona waterborne or oil-modified finish within 2 hours.
