What is a chalk line used for in flooring installation?
A chalk line such as the Pittsburgh set snaps a straight reference line on the subfloor. Installers use it to lay out the starter row and check that rows stay straight and square.
Can marking chalk stain wood flooring?
Colored marking chalk can stain raw wood and some surfaces, so snap Pittsburgh high-visibility chalk lines on the subfloor or underlayment, not on exposed flooring, and brush off excess.
