Bona RollGuard is a one-component, silane-based moisture membrane that you roll onto wood or concrete subfloors before gluing down wood flooring. It works as a vapor retarder or moisture barrier under Bona QUANTUM adhesives and dries in 2–3 hours. It contains zero VOC and comes in a 5-liter jug.

  • Type: One-component, silane-based roll-on moisture membrane
  • Coverage: 400–500 sq ft per 5 L in one coat; 200–250 sq ft per 5 L for a heavy single coat
  • Moisture limits: Up to 18 lbs / 1,000 sq ft / 24 h or 95% RH; radiant heat up to 6 lbs / 80% RH
  • When to use: Concrete over 12 lbs MVER or 85% RH
  • Dry time: 2–3 hours at 60–80°F and 50% RH
  • Compatible adhesives: Bona QUANTUM adhesives, including QUANTUM R851 and QUANTUM FLOW
  • Substrates: Concrete, plywood, OSB, cork, stone, ceramic, terrazzo, radiant heat, gypsum underlayment
  • Application: 1/4" x 18" roller with a double-yoke cage; sections of 4' x 10' max

One 5-liter jug of Bona RollGuard covers 400–500 sq ft in one coat. For maximum moisture protection, Bona calls for a heavy single coat at 200–250 sq ft per jug.

How long does Bona RollGuard take to dry?

Bona RollGuard dries in 2–3 hours at 60–80°F and 50% relative humidity. Keep the room at 65–80°F and no more than 70% humidity before, during and after the installation.

What is the difference between Bona RollGuard and Bona R540?

Bona RollGuard is a silane-based moisture membrane that dries in 2–3 hours; Bona R540 is a polyurethane-based roll-on primer and barrier. Both are made to go under Bona QUANTUM adhesives.
