Norton Durite paper discs are made for hand-held floor edgers, for sanding along walls, in corners and on stairs where the big machine can’t reach. They use silicon carbide grain on a heavy paper backing, and Norton says the line reduces dish-out of the softer springwood on strip and plank floors. 40 grit is a coarse grit for the first cut on most refinishing jobs: removing old finish and flattening the boards.
