Norton Red Heat Sanding Screen, 16", 80 Grit (66261026301)
16" · 80 GRIT
Norton Red Heat screens put 100% ceramic alumina grain on a flexible screen back for 16-inch floor buffers. Norton says they combine the longest life with the most consistent cut and leave a finer scratch than silicon carbide, minimizing swirl marks and the risk of burnishing the wood. 80 grit is one of the coarser screen grits, used to blend sander and edger marks on bare wood or to cut an old finish aggressively.

What is the difference between Norton Red Heat and Durite sanding screens?
Norton Red Heat screens use ceramic alumina and are Norton’s Best tier; Durite screens use silicon carbide. Norton says Red Heat leaves a finer scratch with fewer swirl marks.
When should I use an 80 grit sanding screen?
On a Norton Red Heat screen, 80 grit is one of the coarser screen grits, used to blend sander and edger marks on bare wood or to cut an old finish aggressively.
Can you over-screen a hardwood floor?
Yes. Norton warns that over-screening can dish out the soft springwood and close the wood grain, which can keep the finish from bonding properly.
